The Governors of Shevington High School have recently decided to undertake a consultation as to whether the school should become an Academy.

We value your views and the outcome of the consultation will help us decide whether we wish to move forward with the Academy process.

The Governors believe that becoming an Academy would put us in a position to shape our own future, enabling us to continue with the progress we have made as a school. We are proposing that we establish a Multi Academy Trust which means that other schools could join the trust, enabling us to work closely together, sharing experience and expertise and ensuring the best possible outcomes for the students in our school.

We are holding a series of meetings so that stakeholders can hear more about the proposals, ask questions and meet some of the key people involved.

The meetings will be held in school on Monday 28th November 2016 at the following times:

3.15pm Meeting for Staff
6.00pm Meeting for Parents/Other Stakeholders
7.30pm Meeting for Parents/Other Stakeholders

If you are unable to attend on 28th November, or if you would prefer to meet with myself and Mr Grant on a one to one basis, appointments are available in school on Tuesday 29th November 9.00am-4.00pm and on Monday 5th December 3.00pm-5.00pm.
Please contact Lisa Thompson at the school on 01257 400990 if you wish to make an appointment.

We have also set up a website to provide you with more information about academies and what this proposed change in status would mean for our school. The website address is:

The consultation will close at 12 noon on Friday 23rd December 2016. Governors will then collate the consultation responses and make a decision of whether they wish to proceed with the process by the end of January 2017.
Please do let us know your views, either at one of the meetings or via email at In the meantime, if you have any queries, please contact me via the school office.

Yours faithfully
Michelle Foster
Chair of the Governing Body
