“It would be surprising to come across anyone who failed to notice, watch or be moved by the amazing accomplishments of our GB Paralympians in Rio this summer. So, we decided to base our English experience morning for pupils from Lamberhead Green’s current Y6 on this inspirational event, and give them some practise in developing their English skills by planning and writing a magazine article.
What they didn’t know was that our very own future Paralympian hopeful, Year 10 pupil Louis Telford, was going to be the star guest for their visit – complete with his special basketball wheelchair! Lamberhead pupils and staff had what we hope was a very enjoyable and, indeed, inspirational event, in which they got to: interview Louis and make notes about his sporting aims and achievements; be photographed with him; learn the conventions of a magazine article, and write their own magazine article about Louis’ Paralympic ambitions.
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Lamberhead’s pupils and staff, and Louis thoroughly enjoyed participating too!
The day was planned, organised and delivered by English teacher Mr Lunt, assisted by English TA Miss Woods, and Year 9 pupils Sophie Lyon, Olivia Smedley and Aimee Lunt. May we offer a huge thank you to all who supported and helped make the visit a success.”
