This week saw the 2nd Rainbows meeting in school only this time we had visitors! Firstly we were joined by our external mentor Zak and his colleague Jess who came to speak to us about Wigan Pride and help with our fundraising efforts. We were then treated to a sneak-peek of one of the speeches prepared for the Youth Speaks competition next Tuesday by one of the Year 7 groups. The speech, which passionately portrayed the groups feelings towards LGBT bullying and prejudice, was a massive success and emotionally highlighted just how important in-school support has been for some of the pupils who have joined Rainbows. It was extremely rewarding to see pupils speak so passionately about such an important topic and our guests were so impressed that they even Tweeted about us that afternoon. All of this just goes to show that, together, we really can make a difference to people’s lives, even just in school!

*Wigan Pride badges are currently on sale in school to help fundraise for the event and cost £1. All of the money goes to the organization. Anyone wishing to purchase a badge or make a donation can contact Mrs Dawson. Thanks for all of your support so far!*
