We are committed to our nurture learning pathway and have witnessed the enormous benefits it affords to pupils.
The pathway is aimed at pupils who have not fully gained the personal and social competences needed to achieve success through a mainstream curriculum. This has often resulted in low levels of learning and in particular poor literacy.
The aim of the pathway is to provide support for missed learning experiences in a primary style setting with moderated provision, targeted to support and address their individual needs. The belief is that within this nurturing environment pupils will develop the social, emotional and learning skills to raise self esteem and independence and underpin future success.
As in all learning pathways in school pupils’ progress will be monitored and careful planning and preparation will be used to integrate pupils into mainstream pathways if or when it becomes appropriate.
