On Monday 1st June, Year 7 and 8 pupils had the opportunity to experience a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ performed by the Manchester Actors. The study of Shakespeare is a huge part of the new GCSEs in English, so this was a great opportunity for pupils to build their knowledge and to hear Shakespeare’s language live in our own school. The small cast of actors told an abridged version of the story, using a mixture of narration and costume changes to play a whole range of characters and to deliver a complicated storyline in just under an hour. Pupils will be using the experience as a starting point for some review writing in this week’s English lesson.
