We warmly congratulate our current Year 8 Intermediate Youth Speaks public speaking team (Eve Wane-Smith – Chairperson, Aimee Lunt – Speaker, and Sophie Lyon – Vote of Thanks) on their victory in the District Heat, hosted by Bedford High School, on the evening of 4th February 2016. Fittingly, their speech was entitled ‘Success?’

The team once again showed outstanding commitment, with a performance that would have given some of the Senior teams a run for their money. Mr Grant (Headteacher) and Mr Lunt (Youth Speaks Co-ordinator) were on hand, with the team’s parents, to watch a great performance.

The team go on to compete in the District final in Frodsham on 5th March 2016.

May we also offer our congratulations to St.Peters’ Senior team, who won their category, and also progress to the District final. This shows the great public speaking talent in Wigan schools, and continues what is becoming a tradition of progress and success in the Youth Speaks competition.

As ever, thank you to the ladies and gentlemen of the Rotary Club; without their dedication in offering this opportunity to our young people, the competition would not exist. A special mention to Gwyneth Millard for her support in the competition so far.

The team continue to work hard in preparation for the next round. Fingers crossed!

Mr Lunt
