36 Year 11 & Year 10 Drama pupils went to watch a production of Harper Lee’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ at the Bolton Octagon Theatre on Thursday 29th September. Pupils were intrigued by the performance space ‘in the round’ and were able to have a very different theatre experience of the well known novel adapted for the stage. The use of narration by Scout and the simple set design changing from the Finch residential area to the Court house was cleverly orchestrated to help this powerful tale set in 1935 Maycomb, Alabama, come to life. GCSE pupils will now have two weeks to complete their review on the production as part of their Unit 2 Controlled assessment. Lots of quality acting and interesting set design for the students to comment upon.
