What a fantastic achievement for one of our year 7 pupils Amy in 7.3 who travelled all the way up to the Scottish National Combined Events Championships in Glasgow at the Emirates Arena.

Amy finished 5th out of 29th athletes achieving four personal best scores (PBs) across her five events (pentathlon). The overall competition winner has become the UK U13 pentathlon record holder achieving the third highest all time score – which gives an idea of the level of competition! she also competed across 60m hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put and 800m gaining AAA standards in grade 1 (long jump) with a distance of 4.60m, grade 4 in 60m hurdles (10.62s), and grade 3 pentathlon (overall score 2129 points).

To add to the excitement, competing at the same event on the same day were professional athletes Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie!

Following Saturday’s success, Amy then also competed in the Northern Athletics Championships in Sheffield on Sunday gaining medals in the two events that she competed in (silver in long jump 4.57m (grade 1), and bronze in high jump (PB 1.35m, grade 3).

A big well done from Shevington High School on an amazing weekend Amy you have done amazing.
