Some of our pupils have just returned from a fun-filled and action-packed weekend in Paris led by the Languages department. The trip was a huge success and extremely well enjoyed by all pupils. They managed to fit so much into such a small space of time and furthermore, enjoyed unusually hot temperatures of 25 degrees (rare for the time of year!)

After a 5am start on Friday 17th October, we headed for Calais via the Eurotunnel and then made the long journey down to Paris. Upon arrival at the PGL Chateau de Grande Romaine, pupils had a wonderful meal and then took part in an organised activity to bond and get to know each other.

On Saturday, after croissants and coffee and in summer-like temperatures, we made the ascent up the Eiffel Tower on foot, a little testing for the calf muscles but the incredible view of Paris more than made up for it, just check out our pictures! Fortunately, we then were able to relax as we sailed down the river Seine on a boat cruise where we picnicked and saw all the magnificent famous landmarks such as the Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Musée D’Orsay.

The afternoon was the teacher’s favourite; the Champs Elysées of course! Whilst some sat in a pavement café sampling a café au lait, many shopped until they dropped. Some of us even managed to queue jump into the glamorous Abercombie and Fitch and even have the photos to prove it! It was also a great opportunity for us to practise our French in the shops.

Sunday took us to Disneyland and we enjoyed the soaring sun as we did more queuing for the exhilarating rides. We all spent lots of money, even the teachers went a bit crazy on all the gorgeous Disney toys and decorations.

Later that evening, we got to try snails. Many of us tried the famous French delicacy before taking part in a ‘Bin Bag Challenge’ fashion show; it was a fun way to end the weekend!

Sadly, as all good things do, the trip had to come to an end and we journeyed home on Monday, tired and happy after a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you to all the teachers who gave up their time to take us on such an unforgettable adventure!
