Today, 12 Year 10 pupils were lucky enough to be treated to an amazing day of culture at Blackburn Central High School.

The theme of the day was SHARED VALUES and we were privileged to hear fascinating stories from pupils who have moved to the school from countries such as Syria, Spain, Romania, Kuwait, Albania and Bulgaria.

Our wonderful hosts provided us with a superb array of home cooked foods from around the world and students from Shevington enjoyed tasting Spanish paella, Syrian and Romanian pastries, samosas, Hungarian biscuits and Romanian stuffed peppers. All washed down with a delicious cup of Syrian tea.

As well as listening to the interesting presentations, all pupils worked in teams to create a piece of art representing both school’s shared Values. The winning team was PEAR (Peace, Equality And Respect) who had created a united world and stuck pictures of themselves all around it with likes, dislikes, and hopes for the future.

This has been yet another amazing opportunity for our pupils to meet and learn about people from other cultures. We would like to offer our warmest thanks to the fantastic Hamida Patel and the EAL team and all the wonderful staff and pupils at BCHS for their superb hospitality and organising such a valuable event.
