The talented and brilliant mathematicians in year 7 and 8 are currently busy preparing themselves for the forthcoming UK Junior Maths Challenge at the end of April. The challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and encourages reasoning, precision of thought, fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting and challenging problems. Even though the pupils are given multiple choices for the answers, the answers are certainly not easy to work out. They can’t use a calculator and they can lose marks for guessing wrong answers.

Why not have a go at some of the recent questions yourself?
