Design and Technology

Design and Technology Curriculum

Design and Technology has always been an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts linked to our SAIL themes and the National Curriculum. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on knowledge such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Pupils develop an understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.

Our Design and Technology GCSE qualifications enable students to contribute successfully in an increasingly technological world. They will learn from the wider influences on the subject including historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic factors.

Teaching and Learning

Our courses cover core technical and designing and making principles, including a broad range of design processes, materials, techniques and equipment.
