Dear Parents / Carers,
During the course of the last few days, Mr Grant has told the Governing Board at school that he will resign from his position as Head teacher at the end of August 2024. Today, we told all the students in school the news.
It is with enormous gratitude that we can reflect on an incredibly successful 11 years with Mr Grant as Head teacher, during which he has worked tirelessly for the benefit of our school and been an exceptional and innovative leader, achieving many fantastic things, including significant growth, improving standards and outcomes for young people and recognition amongst the national and international educational community as pioneer in student-centered learning strategies and approaches. Mr Grant has been a truly wonderful servant to the community of Shevington and has impacted very positively on thousands of lives.
As Mr Grant enters a semi-retirement and is able to spend more time with his family while continuing to make an invaluable contribution to education in other (slightly less demanding!) ways, he also takes with him the Governing Board’s warmest and very best wishes for the future.
During the course of the summer term, there will be an opportunity for colleagues, students, parents and the Shevington community to share their appreciation for Mr Grant’s dedication and commitment.
The Governing Board at Shevington High School have embraced the challenge of finding a new Head Teacher with energy and focus and with the determination to continue and further develop the amazing work for our young people, the families and the wider local area. That process has already begun. I can assure you, we have nothing but the greatest ambition for our school and its journey and we truly believe that to become the Head teacher of our brilliant school will not only be an honour, but also a tremendous opportunity for someone with vision, energy and the highest level of skill and expertise.
We would really like to hear your views, and the views of your children in school about the qualities you think we should be looking for in our next Head teacher – please follow the link to the google form and share with us 2 or 3 qualities you think are essential to find in our search. I very much hope this should take you about 5 minutes. I would be really grateful to hear from you by Thursday morning (Feb 15th at 09.00)

I will keep you updated as we have any news about how that work unfolds.
In the meantime, I would like to thank you for continued support for the work of the school.
Yours sincerely,
Mr James A G Royal
Chair of Governors.
